In 2003 we were approached by a provider of railway control systems was looking for a COM module that had the required networking interfaces and associated QNX operating system support. They found Embedded Planet from our partnership with Freescale and QNX. The company engaged our reseller in Germany and purchased an initial EP88xC evaluation unit.
Given the nature of the safety critical application, there were many aspects that were required to win the production. Some of the customer’s requirements included industrial temperature components, conformal coating, MTBF calculations, test logs, and a technical agreement of delivery that stated that Embedded Planet would continue to manufacture for several years with a fixed bill of materials and price.
Embedded Planet’s expertise, flexibility, and production quality were critical in winning and keeping this customer.
