Mbed OS reaches end-of-life in July 2026. What does that mean for your product?

The Mbed platform and OS will be archived, online project builds will no longer be available, and ongoing support from ARM will come to an end. If your device firmware is built on Mbed OS, your product may continue to operate as it does today. The challenge comes when you need to address critical bugs, patch security vulnerabilities or support new hardware requirements.

Need to preserve existing hardware?
If your hardware platform is already deployed and your codebase depends on Mbed OS, Embedded Planet’s firmware engineering team can help assess migration options and develop a practical path forward.
Following our own migration to FreeRTOS, we’ve helped clients modernize legacy platforms, extend product lifecycles, and avoid costly product obsolescence.

The July 2026 deadline is approaching. If you’re evaluating your options, now is the time to develop a migration strategy.

Agora52 + epSDK
At Embedded Planet, we’ve already navigated this transition ourselves. We successfully ported our epSDK to FreeRTOS to support the Agora52 platform and all Embedded Planet systems built around it. The result is a proven foundation that helps developers move forward without starting from scratch.

If a redesign is part of your roadmap, the Agora52 platform and epSDK provide a significant head start, with built-in communications, cloud connectivity, sensor support, and production-ready software components.
